Are You Meaning Company
Peter Liversidge
Vernissage le jeudi 3 avril 2008
Ouverture du 4 avril au 10 mai 2008
Quand l’objet est absent ou rendu diffus dans une installation ou une performance, le respect profond et puissant pour cet objet enrichi son absence.

Ayumi Minemura, Are You Meaning Company, is back from her residence at Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart with four new and captivating projects, which she is proud to exhibit at the Lucy Mackintosh gallery.
Are You Meaning Company creates collaborations between us and her propositions, where the aim of the Company is to make life more endearing. She proposes, for example, to teach Sachi Hirata how to whistle. In this way, we will discover in ourselves reactions and attitudes we did not know of, whilst also teaching Sachi how to act. We realise that there are spontaneous things that we can do, and others that we must certainly not do.
«Company Ticket», brings together twenty-eight tickets that improve and alleviate our relations with others. They are invitations that work like insurances for building an emotional security in everyday life. The experience of the performance transposes itself to the procurer of the artwork.

Peter Liversidge imagines an abundance of propositions that weave around performance, objects, editions, drawings, paintings, music, and text. He works with our habits, what we envy, our myths, or our memories.
The paintings, sculptures and drawings Peter Liversidge displays in the exhibition «Whistling Dixie» convey his amused irony for glamour or the attraction to luxury objects. These works deal with aspirations, goals and the deception present in the fragility of human personality.
Even though Liversidge’s work appears luminous and nonchalantly poetic, he possesses, albeit latently, a disenchanted humour.
